MODERN LINES AND PASTEL COLORS – Rounded corners, pastel colors and exaggerated contours: these are the few words that could very well sum up the Jonathan Saunders sunglasses collection. However, that’s not all there is to it.
For the Spring/Summer 2015 eyewear campaign, the brand took two routes: one that is nostalgic and one that is modern. The pastel colors, rounded contours and bold graphic lines stand are contemporary traits, while round, semi-rimless and square frames give off a retro vibe.
Jonathan Saunders enlisted Marc Sebastian Faiella to model the men’s sunglasses. In a series of powerful up-close portraits taken on monochrome backgrounds, Marc constantly avoids staring directly into the camera. Instead, we are presented with lateral views that perfectly illustrate the most important features of the frames. For example, a pair of blue sunglasses are only viewed from one side, but that is enough to tell all about their cool aesthetics, rounded corners and strong temples.
A few women’s sunglasses are also featured in the campaign. Tip toeing the same line between retro and futuristic, the shades have incredibly thick temples and come in unique, pastel-colored styles. One pair, for example, gives the impression that it is almost semi-rimless because of the extra thickness at the top and the narrow lower contour. The resulting effect is simply mesmerizing.
