AN IMAGINARY WORKSHOP – Launched in 2007 for the Pitti show in Florence, Italia Independent is an eyewear brand that is decidedly carving a name for itself in the industry. Even though seven years of existence might not compare to the decades that stand behind other companies in the field, Italia Independent seems to be measuring up to them. Set to update the prestigious “Made in Italy” tag, this young brand fits right into a new, “Made in Italy 2.0” current.

Just take a look at their Fall/Winter 2014-2015 campaign! Rich in colors and details, the campaign is a succession of colorful, surprising images. The models, both men and women, are posing in a so-called “imaginary” workshop. Posing with scissors, spools of thread, sewing machines and other related accessories, they bring to life a conceptual, wondrous image.

This context helps the Italia Independent glasses reach their full potential: all the eyewear comes off as wonderful, bright and daring. From blue to red, green, black or gray, there’s no color in the spectrum that’s missing. Occasionally, the hues blend beautifully into elaborate animal, geometric or fantasy prints. The sheer variety of frames is impressive, as is the versatility of the designs. Rectangular, square, oversized, cat eye and everything in between, each pair is photographed in a carefully constructed set which makes them stand out even more.

Hypnotizing, fun, creative and even whimsical at times: The Italia Independent sunglasses give away an intense desire to bring to life that “Made in Italy 2.0” feel. And, by the looks of it, they’re on the right track.
